Passing of a Giant
October 22, 2007 by jltheobald
While running Cactus Forest Trail last Thursday I came upon what must be a 200+ year old Saguaro lying across the trail, 1.1 mile South of the Broadway Trailhead, just below the Mica View Trail Junction. I can’t imagine what it witnessed through its life, but felt its passing should be noted.

Interesting, Joe. I’m going to go look for this giant weed :). (In the world of plants, cacti are actually pretty short-lived, even the saguaros. Creosote bushes can last thousands of years. Even grasses can make it for centuries.).
Thanks,
Ross Z
Calling it a weed based on expected life is a strong statement. You must not have much use for annual flowers. Check it out Thursday night?
